Commissioners approve Redlands Cape Seal project

At their June 25 public hearing, the commissioners approved a $397,543 contract with A-1 Chipseal to complete the Mesa County Cape Seal Phase II Project. Phase II of the project will involve applying cape seal to 2.75 miles of roadways in the Redlands area, in addition to the approximately 3.25 miles already applied in Orchard Mesa and the Redlands during Phase I earlier this year.

Commissioners approve firearms resolution

Residents of Mesa County have retained the ability to carry firearms in most County facilities. During their June 25 public hearing, the Commissioners voted to approve a resolution that explicitly specifies which County government spaces residents are prohibited from open and concealed carrying guns.

Community members celebrate Clifton Community Campus opening

On the sunny Saturday morning of June 22, 2024, Mesa County officially opened the doors to the recently completed Clifton Community Campus at 3270 D ½ Road. A lively ribbon-cutting event was held to celebrate the launch of the new campus, which will serve as a central hub for the Clifton community.

Grant for Mesa County Behavioral Health extended

During their June 18 public hearing, the Board of Mesa County Commissioners approved an amendment to delay the payout of a grant awarded to Mesa County Behavioral Health (MCBH) by the Colorado Behavioral Health Administration (BHA) in 2023. The $4.5 million grant was awarded for use in the 2024-2025 Fiscal Years. The amendment comes after the BHA experienced delays in issuing the grant, prompting them to offer an extension of the original award through June 30, 2025.
