An important change goes into effect this month regarding who can request certified copies of birth and death certificates.

On Friday, Oct. 4, Mesa County Behavioral Health officially moved into its new facility at 551 Chipeta Ave. Community leaders, local officials, and key partners gathered to celebrate the expansion of services to address access to mental health and behavioral care needs of Mesa County residents.

The Lighthouse Program partners with youth who are at risk of dropping out of school, getting involved in criminal activities, or struggling with substance use. Our goal is prevention through comprehensive support, services, and education, both for the youth and their families. By integrating internal and external resources, including restorative justice practices, we aim to help families implement lasting changes to avoid system involvement. The program collaborates with various community agencies to ensure individualized support. Together, we strive to make a difference in our community.

Due to air quality concerns, Mesa County Public Health has extended a No Burn Advisory. Burning of any kind, including agricultural burning, is not allowed during this advisory period.

The Upper Grand Valley Pest Control District is seeking committed individuals to serve on its Advisory Committee. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact by protecting local agriculture from pests, diseases, and invasive weeds.

During the C9 Water Conservation Summit, Mesa County Commissioner Bobbie Daniel had the opportunity to tour the Roaring Judy Fish Hatchery in Gunnison County. This hatchery is home to Colorado’s largest kokanee salmon spawn and is critical in the state's fish population management.
